Koh Lipe
Dear Guest, It remains a very popular question

"How to get to Koh Lipe" or "How do we reach Koh Lipe"

In high season it really should not be a problem as connections to Koh Lipe are available from Bangkok, Langkawi, Krabi, Koh Ngai, Koh Kradan. Most of the time with multiple departure times throughout the day. In Low Season it is a bit more 'problematic' to reach Koh Lipe that easily as for example there will be no direct ferry between Koh Lipe and Langkawi, Phuket, Krabi, Koh Lanta and so forth during low season. The only way to reach Koh Lipe during low season is from Pak Barra Pier. If you are considering departing (straight) from Bangkok to travel to Koh Lipe you can opt for many flights per day. Coming from Bangkok and going to Hat Yai International Airport or Trang Airport should never be a problem. Check the websites from Thai Airways, Nok Air or Air Asia. PLEASE NOTE that there is only one airline that flies DIRECTLY from Bangkok International Airport (Suvarnabhumi Airport) to Hat Yai International Airport and that is Thai Smile Airways.

To arrive on Koh Lipe on the same day we recommend that you select a flight that departs from any particular destination in Thailand (Phuket, Chiang Mai, Isaan, etc) that arrives at Hat Yai - or Trang Airport as early as possible or at least BEFORE 09:00 AM. From what we understood both Air Asia and Nok Air sell packages that include the actual flight, transportation to Pak Barra Pier and Koh Lipe all together. Might be worth checking out those Koh Lipe deals with them!

Another option is to book your travel itinerary to Koh Lipe online with Thai Beach Travelers. If you come from another direction than Bangkok or prefer to travel over land and sea and being already in Thailand its Southern region. They offer very extensive transportation options and have been specializing in offering travel arrangements within the Southern part of Thailand for over 10 years now. They have a local office at Koh Lipe Walking Street as well.

We do strongly recommend to pre-book and confirm your travel arrangements in advance for the months December, January and February. It happens quite often that all the boats, minivans or even big tour buses are fully booked!

Kindly take into consideration that we do not receive any commission or are affiliated to Thai Beach Travelers in any way. We simply share this information with you to, hopefully assist you in making your travel arrangements to Koh Lipe easier and more convenient. For this reason we hope you understand that we are not taking any responsibility in the unfortunate case that something might go wrong.

1. Book Boat Tickets:

2. Book Minibus Tickets:

So there you have it. Regardless if you are coming from Hat Yai, Trang, Langkawi, Koh Phi Phi, or even Ao Nang (and a whole bunch of different locations) they can assist you for sure. You can reach their website HERE

UPDATE 11-01-2017: There has been quite the change regarding your arrival on Koh Lipe since the beginning of the new high seasons for 2015 and 2016. We thought it might be a good idea to send out an update so you will be prepared. Kindly take note of the below:

1. The entrance fee for the ferry and speedboat terminal on Pak Barra charges THB 20.00 per person.
2. Upon arriving on the floating pontoon or on Pattaya beach side you will see some officials from the Tarutao National Park regime. In order to enter Koh Lipe they will charge THB 200.00 per person and children below the age of 12 can enter Koh Lipe free of charge. Please take in to consideration that this has been recently installed by the National Park regime. You will receive a Passe-par-tout* that entitles you to visit Koh Adang, Koh Rawi, Koh Tarutao as well.
3. It is no longer possible to take the longtail boat from the floating pontoon to Sunrise Beach**. During Low Season you will arrive on Sunrise Beach and Lipe Beach Resort is located next to the Medical Clinic and the school. *This is much better arranged nowadays as in the past years there were many ‘problems’ on Koh Adang, Koh Rawi and Koh Turatao. National Park Rangers would approach unknowing tourist on snorkeling trips to claim the THB 200.00 National Park Entrance Fee. Of course a lot of tourists did not bring any money with them as lunch, water etc is provided on the group tours. Now all you have to do is make sure you bring your Pass-par-tout, show it to the rangers and you are ‘off the hook’

**Motorbike taxis will be waiting at you on Pattaya Beach. For THB 50.00 per person they will bring you to Lipe Beach Resort and kids are supposed to travel free of charge. We do not offer our own pick-up and drop-off service. There are plenty of motorcycle taxis and even small trucks on Koh Lipe nowadays. We do not want to contribute to having even more motorcycles or small trucks driving around on Koh Lipe and hope that this carries your understanding.

If you do not exactly know where you are going after Koh Lipe this is no problem at all. Our front office staff gladly assist and advice you as we do have an in-house travel desk as well. Please note that we are only capable of assisting you in making travel arrangement at the spot.
