Sunrise Beach, Koh Lipe

Sunrise Beach on Koh Lipe, Thailand is the longest and the nicest beach on the island with truly amazing sunrises. Koh Lipe "Sunrise Beach is the best beach on Lipe" is something we hear many of our guests say, and throughout the years we have seen quite a few of them. We kind of agree :) and think that it’s not without a reason that Sunrise Beach has been awarded by more than 300 voters the prestigious 2015 Travelers Choice Award by TripAdvisor.

Lipe Beach Resort itself is located at the northern part of Sunrise Beach. There is a school next to it which gives our guests a unique opportunity to catch a glimpse into the livelihood, culture and life-style of the local Chao Ley children. In addition, we are also very close to the government hospital on Koh Lipe. Being located on a remote island which is nearly 70km from the mainland one shouldn’t expect too much from this hospital, there is no ER room and only small medical problems can be taken care of on Koh Lipe Island itself.

Although Sunrise Beach provides a wide stretch of sand in front of the resort, most of our guests really enjoy strolling further up north as the beach gets even wider and after just 200 meters there is a beautiful curve to the left that just creates amazing scenes during sunset times, depending on the season. Walking down this part of the beach is not recommended without a camera or a decent smart phone that takes good pictures.

Koh Lipe, Sunrise Beach summarized:
• 2km of white sandy beach along the west side of Koh Lipe Island
• Crystal clear water of Sunrise Beach with a variety of exotic marine life
• The northern part of Sunrise Beach is considered the best location for snorkeling
• It is considered less crowded, touristy and noisy compared to Pattaya Beach
• It is considered more developed compared to the Sunset Beach Area
• Amazing sunrises. Try to wake up really early at least once or twice to treat yourself to the best possible start of any day, catching a stunning sunrise!

Koh Lipe Sunrise Beach is the busiest between November and April which are clearly the high season months on the island. All the beach bars, restaurants, massage parlors open up for business and connecting ferries to other island in the southern part of Thailand (where Koh Lipe is located) start to run. Low season starts around the end of May and many restaurants, shops and even hotels will close their doors during this period.

On a clear day it is also possible to see Koh Tarutao and Langkawi Islands (Malaysia). Two islands (Koh Kra and Koh Usen) just off Sunrise Beach offer little coral gardens for viewing. Tourists can find a few small restaurants and shops nearby (at the beginning of Ko Lipe Walking Street). Also a small Chao Ley village with a school and a hospital can be found in the vicinity.
